Somatic Bodywork

 

Somatic Bodywork is based on the knowledge of Oriental and Western healing techniques and on the awareness of the different layers of the self, that is Body, Mind, and Spirit. The Word ‘Soma’ refers to the awareness of the body in its wholeness, and to the idea that emotional blockages can also manifest as body conditions and pain. During the session attention is given to foster awareness of the present situation, and the receiver is invited to allow any expression of the self to support the healing process. 

A session of Somatic Bodywork aim to identify the receiver's needs on the day, and support the inner work by using

healing modalities such as Zen Shiatsu, Tantsu®, Thai Yoga, Osteothai®, Biodynamic Craniosacral, Trager Techniques, Somatic Integration, and Meditation.

Before the session emphasis is given to connect with the personal needs, for both the physical and the emotional body. Different tools such as meditation and mindfulness may be used to bring awareness of the present moment and to the intention for the session. The practitioner might use Craniosacral to listen to the receiver's body rhythm, and then intuitively using conscious touch, mobilizations, stretches, acupressure, and stimulation of the main energetic pathways of the body. After the session the receiver might be invited to foster changes or implement exercises as a part of a daily routine to improve their particular condition or move forward with their intention.

Somatic Bodywork is a method where the philosophy of 'being with a person and establish a deep connection' is at the base of the practice. By establishing a safe and caring environment, the Practitioner is inviting the Partner to relax and enter into his/her inner space, connecting with his/her own bodies; while the role of the Practitioner is to listen and follow the breath, the pauses, and the subtle movements of the Receiver, expanding it into a supportive healing practice.
