Oriental Healing

Oriental Healing practices, in their ancient form and use, are aimed to foster the Homeostatic Process of the living organism and help the body heal itself. Genuine intentions, combined with conscious touch, listening, and intuition, are powerful tools for therapeutic healing work. The power of gentle and grounding touch has been scientifically proved to bring positive health benefits; While the Zen Shiatsu approach of 'Being with a Partner' by listening to the breath, and the subtle movements, is a gentle, and effective way of healing.

Traditional healing practices from the Asian continent such as Shiatsu, Thai Yoga, and Ayurvedic massage, can be seen as tools to help go deep into understanding the body, its functions, its unique properties as natural living organism, and its wonders. These practices share common principles and includes Bodywork, Herbal Medicine, Acupressure, or work on the energetic pathways.

Each style has evolved following a particular philosophy such as Daoist, Confucian, Buddhist, and Martial, and they are an evolution of the ancient Ayurvedic Medicine from India and Tibet, which then became part of the local tradition of healing practice.

All these techniques have in common intention, touch, and working on the energetic pathways of the body. The power of a conscious touch has been proved to bring health-benefits on the physical and on the

emotional body. During the session the practitioner can focus the genuine intention into the touch, which

acquires healing qualities that can positively affect the receiver.

The awareness of the energetic pathways, and how energy can stagnate in the body causing imbalance, injuries or illness, is an important aspect of these healing practices. Restoring the natural flow of energy through physical actions such as muscles stretching, extensions, and deep tissue work is a practice used in both Traditional Shiatsu, and Traditional Thai Massage techniques.

Modern development have seen the creation of different approaches to traditional methods, such as the Zen

Shiatsu school of Masunaga, or the evolution of Thai Massage into Thai Yoga, and Osteothai. While the traditional techniques were based on centuries observing the natural world, practicing self-healing, and experimenting treatments, the new techniques offer more flexibility and adaptation to the needs of the receiver.
